Initially starting with just a handful of private EV drivers, the plan is to scale up to a trial of as many as 50 taxis, courtesy of trial partner Addison Lee.

Along with fellow trial partners including Renault, Chargemaster and Drayson Racing, a fleet of Renault Fluence Z.Es will provide the base for the taxi car trial, with a launch expected in 2014.

While tests will focus predominately on 3 kw charging system (which takes a typical EV around 7-8 hours for a full recharge), Qualcomm's Halo system is flexible and is already capable of charging at 7kW (3 hour recharge time) and 20Kw (30 min rapid charge) depending on requirements.

Si verdaderamente logran recarga inalámbrica a 20 kW, creo que se podría reservar el cable exclusivamente para cargas ultra-rápidas. Una de las claves para favorecer la introducción del EV es que los usuarios no tengan que hacer nada distinto a un coche normal. No tener que enchufarlo después de aparcar es bueno.
