Conclusión:

How green are electric cars?

We might expect Renault, a manufacturer that has put more effort than most into championing electric vehicles, to come up with a study that underlines the green credentials of electric vehicles but the report does recognise that there's a long way still to go - particularly in the area of battery technology.

Between 30% and 50% of the total footprint of the Fluence Z.E. is due to the mix of materials in the battery. If that can be reduced by better battery tech in the future, the case for electric cars will become even stronger.

So, how green are electric cars? It very much depends on a huge range of factors but Renault's report does seem to allay some of the fears whipped up by the various circulating horror stories around the production and disposal of EVs. We're not there yet but there seems every reason to suspect that electric cars will form an important part of our motoring future.

Asi que ya sabeis, si os saltan con que fabricar las baterías contamina mucho les plantais este estudio en la cara.
